INSANELY A-LIST CAST FOR RICHARD OSMAN’S THURSDAY MURDER CLUB REVEALED

It’s a truly star-studded affair for the cast of Thursday Murder Club, the movie adaptation of Richard Osman’s best-selling murder mystery, which has just been announced.

The former Pointless host landed number one on the best-selling list last year with his fourth crime novel while his 2020 book gets the silver screen treatment.

Thursday Murder Club is set to be directed by Chris Columbus, the iconic visionary behind Harry Potter, Mrs Doubtfire, and Home Alone.

Not only is the director legendary, but so is the cast as Dame Helen Mirren, Sir Ben Kingsley, and James Bond himself, Pierce Brosnan, are all attached to the film.

Richard, 53, confirmed the news on his podcast The Rest is Entertainment, as he revealed Amblin Entertainment — Steven Spielberg’s production house — are making it.

The plot follows four friends living in a retirement home in Kent as they join together to solve murders for fun only to get swept up in a real case.

Helen, 78, stars as ex-spy Elizabeth with Ben, 80, as ex-psychiatrist Ibrahim, and Pierce, 70, as former union activist Ron.

Final of the four, Joyce, is yet to be announced but given the names already revealed it’s likely to be an impressive addition.

Teasing the announcement, Richard wrote on X: ‘Just been on a call with Amblin, and the cast for #TheThursdayMurderClub movie is insanely great, I think people are going to love it.

‘Official announcements very soon, and can’t wait to share it with everyone.’

Richard, whose brother is Suede’s Mat Osman, is best known for his TV stints, including as the host of House of Games.

He has written four books with The Thursday Murder Club boasting the accolade of fastest-selling adult crime debut in recorded history.

In the first three days of release, the novel — which was the subject of a 10-way bidding war for publication rights — had sold over 45,000 copies.

The subsequent series has sold over 10 million books globally, with another instalment set to be released next year.

When it was first revealed the book was being optioned for a movie release names like Viola Davies and Meryl Streep had been attached as well as Mamma Mia’s Ol Parker.
